Surgical Procedure

The eardrum is elevated allowing access to the floor of the middle ear. Exposure of the nerve to the posterior semicircular canal is accomplished and the nerve is divided. The abnormal signal coming from the canal (the cause of BPPV) is eliminated causing the symptoms to abate.
